The Catalyst Festival affords us an opportunity to celebrate in the rich diversity of who we are! This forms the foundation of the Zones – a mixture of talks, discussion and hands-on activities which run every day during the event. They allow us to celebrate who we are and who we can be as we add the colours and flavours of God’s Kingdom in to the unique places we find ourselves.
The Zones therefore seek to encourage, equip and empower each of us in the passions God has given us and the places He has positioned us. We are each uniquely part of God’s plan to extend and reveal His Kingdom in everything, everywhere. Tom Wright says:
“What you do in the present—by painting, preaching, singing, sewing, praying, teaching, building hospitals, digging wells, campaigning for justice, writing poems, caring for the needy, loving your neighbour as yourself—will last into God’s future. These activities are not simply ways of making the present life a little less beastly, a little more bearable, until the day when we leave it behind altogether. They are part of what we may call building for God’s kingdom.”
This changes everything! It means that all of us are caught up in building God’s Kingdom. For each of us, our day to day lives and all that makes them up provide opportunities to love God and to reveal God’s love. That who we are individually and the part we play adds to a greater story of who we are together and the way we are able to change and shape our families, communities, villages, towns, cities, nation and beyond.
We hope the Zones inspire and encourage us in our lives outside the Festival – we can’t wait to see what God is going to do through them.
