We appreciate it can be difficult to carve time out of a busy diary, especially on-staff or involved in leadership at a church, but we don’t think you will regret doing so for Catalyst Prayer and Fasting. This day and a half spent together is a really valuable time for a number of reasons.
Acts 13 tells us that Paul and Barnabus, together with the church in Antioch, spent time worshiping and fasting before they set off on their first missionary journey. So we are following a great example by starting our time together with a session almost entirely devoted to worship. There really is nothing quite like spending time in the presence of our Heavenly Father, all day-to-day worries set to one side as we focus on Him.
Following on from this is a varied programme of news from around churches in the UK and overseas, opportunity to share testimonies, and of course plenty of time to seek God’s direction for both now and the future. James 5:16 tells us that the prayers of the righteous are powerful and effective, so when we join together at times like this we really can expect things to change.
These two days are also a great opportunity to meet up with friends, old and new, from across our network of churches. Time spent encouraging one another over a cup of tea or coffee, getting to hear of what is going on in local churches in more detail and building relationships is definitely time well spent. And of course, as far as we currently know, Catalyst is the only Newfrontiers sphere to break fast together with a delicious two-course meal! That in itself will hopefully encourage you to stay for the second day.
So if you’re involved in leadership in your church or are part of the staff team then do come along. Catalyst Prayer and Fasting is held on 1 and 2 October at The Ridgeway Centre, Milton Keynes.
