What is Catalyst?

We are an apostolic movement, starting and strengthening churches that multiply disciples to see God’s kingdom fill the Earth. With our roots in Newfrontiers, we are a family of over 800+ churches connected together through genuine relationship and served by a number of apostolic teams who aim to equip churches to raise pioneering disciples that see God’s kingdom fill the earth. Though there isn’t a blueprint for all Catalyst churches, you’ll find that we all share the same vision and apostolic foundations, worked out differently in each church’s unique setting across dozens of nations around the world. Our vision is to reveal and bring Jesus and His Kingdom to every environment, in every nation. Catalyst churches are characterised by firstly the strength of our relationships with God and one another. Secondly, by the valuing of our different gifts and the understanding that as we come together we add to the whole of who we are. Finally, by a deep commitment to work together to reveal the wonder of who Jesus is.

Working Together

We stay connected locally, nationally and internationally to build family as a wider church; drawing on each other’s strengths, gifting, teachings and testimonies to challenge and encourage each of us to see God’s Kingdom fill the earth.

This happens regularly though Catalyst Hubs, smaller groups of churches whose leadership teams meet together often for prayer, encouragement and connection. We also gather all Catalyst church leadership teams for a day together a couple of times a year, as well as everyone from our churches at our bi-annual Festival celebrating who we are and who we can be. Together, we send prayers, finance, teams and support to and for one another all around the world.

Catalyst Team

Catalyst is led by the teams who lead the apostolic hubs that make up the backbone of our work. An apostolic team is a group of individuals called by Jesus to serve multiple churches – working across those churches to help them to build healthy teams, break new ground, lay healthy apostolic foundations and raise leaders.

These teams, in turn, are lead by the Catalyst Strategy Team. Led by Simon Holley, this team contains Sharon Clark, Matt Hatch, Adrian Hurst, Andy Johnston, Matt Partridge, Andrew Simpkins, Martin Tibbert, Richard Wightman, Phil Wilthew and Abi Flavell.

Giving To Catalyst

Our work around the world is supported by generous gifts from churches, families and individuals, who give both as one-offs and through regular standing orders.

We ask churches that are part of the Catalyst Network to support the mission in two ways. First to give to Catalyst centrally. We keep our central administrative costs as low as possible but there are some essential that require funding, communications for example. Second, we ask every Catalyst church to commit to and financially support a hub. Our decentralised model of operation enables us to achieve so much more in terms of global mission. In particular it helps churches to build direct relationship with those they are supporting. Each church is free to give what they feel is right. If you are new to Catalyst do please discuss giving with your hub leader.

Catalyst also administers a number of emergency funds. Currently there are two open for donations: Newfrontiers Ukraine Response Fund and Catalyst Turkey/Syrian Earthquake Appeal.
