“So, what are you planning to do in September?”
Making a decision about the “next step” when you feel as if you haven’t got a clue can either be daunting or an opportunity for some adventure – or a mixture of both! Over the years, many within the 18 to 30 age group have taken the plunge and decided to take a year out on FP Impact.
FP Impact (or Frontier Project) provides an opportunity to serve a local church, get some great teaching, deepen your Christian faith, meet some amazing people and enjoy new friendships. Many students would say the year changed their life and helped to re-calibrate the direction they were going in; others that they gained purpose and a clearer sense of calling. For some it became a launch pad to a different career, or a move to another country or initiating a new project in their church or local community.
Students gather in Bedford 5 times in the year for training, starting in September. Most of the students are part of a church within the Catalyst network, but not exclusively so. In addition, we gather with all the other similar training programmes at Center Parcs for a week in January to enjoy teaching, worship, ministry and doing mad things in the rapids! A number of students this year were healed; one couldn’t bend over properly due to a sporting injury but after prayer could touch his toes and now can’t wait to start cricket training. Another said “I knew God was going to do some things this year; what I hadn’t anticipated was that He would do more in a week than I could have imagined or anticipated”!
As part of the year, students have the opportunity to get involved in a home based missions event or go abroad to serve a church community. In June, 2 teams will be going for about a week each to Elbasan in Albania to enjoy church and community life in a very different culture.
Applications are open now for next September and if you don’t know what you are doing or are at all interested, then we would love to hear from you. Please contact Ruth Matthews at email@example.com or click here – you won’t regret it!
