At our Leadership Conference earlier this summer, we took up our annual Catalyst Offering, all of which goes directly to planting churches, raising leaders, supporting social action projects, enabling creativity and advancing the Kingdom across the world. Here are five short stories of the difference that it has made over the past year:
The offering supports Church Planting in the nations – we gave money for starting churches like this one in Albania where three new churches have been established in different cities including the capital Tirana. 30–40 years ago there were hardly any churches in that country, but as Martyn Dunsford and others have visited regularly, developing leaders and planting churches the work has multiplied so that churches are now planting new churches.
Sam Amara gathered pastors from across the region for the Grace Conference in Freetown Sierra Leone. As well as worship and teaching, the vision was cast to plant churches in every nation in the region which includes some of the poorest places in the world. This is already being worked out as we support a new church plant into the city of Cotonou, Benin. It launched with an open air crusade in April led by a team of 12 – the gospel was preached, many people were prayed for, and about 25 people gave their lives to Christ – including 5 families who have joined the new plant. What a way to start a church!
We are also working into war-hit Eastern Ukraine. This picture is a well that we helped fund for a church leader there – he has been running a project providing food for the community and thanks to the Catalyst Offering he is now able to provide water to his street for the first time in 20 years. The gospel is bringing transformation in practical ways as well as spiritual.
We funded projects around the UK with grants of up to £5000, including those working with children with additional needs, the homeless, vulnerable mothers, and those trapped in cycles of poverty. This image is the ‘Connect Lunch’ at the Oak Church in Leeds and Bradford, which provides 30-40 people with a hot meal each week making a genuine difference to their lives.
This is a group from the Toposa Tribe in South Sudan, where 300 were recently baptised. We have been working in this area for many years but more recently are beginning to see incredible breakthrough with large numbers of salvation and amazing stories of miracles and Jesus speaking to people in remarkable ways.
It’s so exciting hearing the stories of how God is moving around the world through Catalyst. Thank you again for standing with us, and partnering in this incredible work. If you haven’t yet given to this year’s offering, but would like to, the details you will need for that are:
