On Thursday 4th October, leaders and teams from across the Catalyst Network gathered for a day of prayer and fasting; a day to encounter God and connect with one another. Here’s a quick review of what happened.

The first session of the day was all about getting into God’s presence and allowing Him to speak to us; both individually and corporately. We started with an opportunity to worship – helping to clear away all the distractions and busyness of day-to-day life and focus in again on Jesus – before Wendy Mann and Phil Wilthew brought prophetic encouragements to sharpen us and draw us deeper into worship. There was a truly moving time to pray for one another as many responded to a word to ‘rest’ and received prayer. As people stood together and prayed, it was clear that Jesus was meeting with people powerfully across the room; bringing comfort, peace, and wholeness.

The middle session focused on prayer to see God break in to a variety of different areas and situations around the world. It started with a focus on the Festival Offering – providing an opportunity to thank everyone for their generosity which enabled us to raise an incredible £303,000 for the work of the gospel around the world, as well as to pray for the projects and people that we’ll be able to support with that money. There was also an opportunity to pray for the upcoming Multiply conference, the work of church-planters and site-planters throughout our movement; as well as to focus in on two particular areas – the North of the UK (especially Wakefield) and Colombia.

Those provided two great opportunities and encouragements to pray – firstly to get into the nuts and bolts of praying for those working into a city with tremendous need for Jesus (the largest city in the UK without a football team!), and secondly to hear about the amazing things God is doing some in bringing revival to Colombia. Richard Green from Woodside Church shared about his recent trip to Bogota – including showing a video clip of a time of prayer and prophecy with Colombian leaders sharing an encouragement that God wants His Spirit to blow through the UK just as He has done in Bogata.

The final session of the day gave us a chance to pray into God’s desire to see His Kingdom come in all nations and in all walks of life. Five zones had been set up around the building, each featuring a video story from someone in a particular sector of society – Academia, the Arts, Medicine, Teaching and Construction. They each shared an insight into the challenges and opportunities in their profession, and gave a few prayer points to help guide our prayers. It was brilliant again to be reminded of the breadth of all that we are involved with together as Catalyst – that even as leaders and teams were gathering, tens of thousands of others from our churches were out on the ‘front line’ seeking to reveal God’s Kingdom in their unique places around the world. The session (and the day) concluded with an opportunity to hear from some of those working into the middle-east. There were more incredible stories of what God is doing, along with encouragements about what He is doing and can do both around the world and in the UK.

On the whole, it was an inspiring and challenging day with a real sense of unity, partnership and togetherness from all those there. We have only to look around us to be reminded of the desperate need in our communities and in our world – a need which drives us to be a praying movement, and a movement confident in our call to be world-changers wherever we are.
